Many years ago I was quoted as having described the Art Institute as the nation's greatest civic museum.
What I meant by this is that even upon entering the museum one can feel the palpable sense of pride the
visitors have in their museum. Obviously the museum's Department of Education has contributed toward this:
The residents of the greater Chicago area are introduced to the museum at a very early age and are
reintroduced to the museum many times as they grow older through excellent educational programs,
lectures, and workshops.
